Ever since the release of Windows 8 Developer Preview, several programs have been released to bring back the Start menu in Windows 8. We have already covered some good programs such as ViStart, Power8, Metro Start, and Start8 programs to get back the Windows 7’s Start menu in the newest version of Windows. Handy Start Menu isn’t for users who are looking for just a Start menu for Windows 8. Instead, it’s for users who are in search of an application that improves the default Start menu in Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7. Windows users who aren’t happy with the way default Start menu handles native and installed programs and users who are looking for a way to improve the default Start menu with some cool features should check out the Handy Start menu. Handy Start Menu is an excellent enhancement to the default Start menu. Handy Start Menu organizes the programs in the Start menu and lets you easily find the program you are looking for. Handy Start Menu categories all programs in different categories: Office, Utilities, Games, Internet, Graphics and Design, Music and Video, Education and Science, Accessories & Built-in Apps, and Miscellaneous. When you install the Handy Start Menu, it automatically activates the better Start menu. Simply click on All Programs in the Start menu to see the Handy Start Menu in action. You can change the default settings of the menu by launching its settings. Under the settings, you will see options to add a new category, show the number of items in the categories, and return to the default Start menu settings. Besides, this software also lets you keep all installed software up-to-date by notifying you about software updates. This feature is turned off by default, but you can enable the same under settings by ticking the Check for the installed programs and notify about the newer versions option. The handy Start menu isn’t ideal for Windows 8, as it doesn’t bring all the features of the Windows 7 Start menu to Windows 8. The developer of the software plans to add all capabilities of Windows 7’s Start menu in the coming versions. Do note the setup offers you install Reg Organizer during the product installation.
