Genie Timeline 2012 Free: Free Backup Software With Metro User Interface

The majority of Windows users use one or other popular backup solutions to regularly backup their data. While most users prefer free backup software such as EaseUS Todo Backup, Macrium Reflect, Redo Backup, and Recovery, or Paragon Backup and Recovery(free), power users use Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost. Genie Timeline Free is a free backup solution with a decent set of features for Windows. The highlight of the program is its user interface. It sports a Metro-inspired user interface which looks pretty good and easy-to-use as well. The free version of Genie Time lets you backup your documents, pictures, music, video, and other files. Setting up the backup is extremely simple. Launch the software, click on Select Backup Drive, and then Click here to start button to select an external drive with enough free space. If the drive isn’t appearing, simply click select a different destination button to browse to your external drive, internal, or network drive. In the following screen, you will see options to select files and folders you wish to include in the backup. You can either use smart selection (Metro-style tiles with checkboxes) or the standard user interface to select the type of files you want to include in the backup. Here, you can backup email client (Outlook, Windows Mail, and Live Mail), computer drives, iPhone/iPad/iPod synced files, Microsoft Office files, music files, pictures, videos, eBooks, ISO images, your synced Blackberry files, and also bookmarks/favorites from Firefox, Opera, Chrome, and Internet Explorer. To include/exclude a specific drive or folder, please switch to the standard method (click on My Computer in the UI), and then select the particular drive or folder. Click the Next button to finish the setup and start backing up selected items. The software monitors for changes and automatically backups up new and modified files even after completing the full backup. A step-by-step restore functionality is available to restore your data using previous backups quickly. While the software uses the Smart mode to backup data, you can always switch to the Turbo Mode by clicking on the Turbo Mode option to speed up the backup operation. Apps for iPhone and iPad are also available to keep track of your backup health. Though the free version has some limitations (all above-mentioned features are part of the free edition) and some advanced features like scheduled backup are missing, the free version is pretty good as far as basic features are concerned. Genie Timeline 2012 Free officially supports Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7 (x86 and x64) operating systems only, but it works flawlessly on the latest Windows 8 as well. If you love the Metro-style user interface and don’t need advanced backup features, Genie Timeline 212 Free is probably the ideal backup solution for you. Download Genie Timeline 2012 Free
