Mozilla has just released Firefox 18.0a1 which includes a Modern UI (Metro UI) version of Firefox for Windows 8. Windows 8 users who can’t wait for a stable version and want to test drive this early Modern UI version of Firefox browser can now head over to Wiki page to start downloading the setup file. The Modern UI version of Firefox is still in early stage and you might encounter bugs while using the same. The current version doesn’t come with scrollbar, which means desktop users need to use arrow keys to scroll down and up. While browsing, right-click anywhere on a page to see Find in a page, zoom in, zoom out, pin to Start (pin webpage to Start screen) and bookmark options. You can also access Downloads page by clicking on the down arrow located on the app bar. You can either click or tap the large Plus button located on the upper right of the screen or simply press Ctrl + T to open a new tab, and use Ctrl + Tab hotkey to switch between tabs. Here is how to download and use Modern UI version of Firefox: Step 1: Visit this Mozilla Wiki page and download Firefox installer. Step 2: Run the installer and then follow on-screen instructions to complete the setup. Step 3: Once installed, navigate to the Start screen to see Firefox Modern UI icon. If the Modern UI version of Firefox icon isn’t appearing on the Start screen, you need to set Firefox as your default browser. Step 4: To set Firefox as your default web browser, double-click on Firefox Nightly icon on the desktop or click on Firefox icon on the Start screen to launch it. Once launched, you will see “Nightly is not currently set as your default browser. Would you like to make it your default browser?” message. Click Yes. You are done! You should now see Firefox Modern UI icon on the Start screen. Step 5: Click or tap Firefox Modern UI icon on the Start screen to launch it.
