AnyDesk: Free Remote Desktop Software

About seven years ago, a friend introduced me to TeamViewer software. From that day to today, I have been using TeamViewer and very happy with it. As we all know, TeamViewer is free for personal use and is probably the best and most used remote desktop software. AnyDesk AnyDesk is a new remote desktop software started by ex-employees of TeamViewer software. Basically, AnyDesk is available in four different plans: free, lite, professional and enterprise. The free version of AnyDesk is completely free for occasional private use. All versions of AnyDesk offer TLS1.2 based encryption and all connections are cryptographically verified. AnyDesk uses DeskRT video codec technology to provide better image quality and responsiveness The user interface of AnyDesk although isn’t as attractive as TeamViewer, it’s definitely usable. Upon downloading and launching AnyDesk software on your PC, you’ll see the browser-like window with your AnyDesk-address and a field to enter the address of the remote desk that you would like to access, allowing you to quickly access a computer or let others swiftly access your computer without having to install the software. By default, the portable version of AnyDesk starts with only user rights (not admin). You need to click Install AnyDesk on this computer to install the program but not necessary if you prefer to use the software without installation. The home screen or New Connection tab of AnyDesk also allows you set password for unattended access. There are three ways to access a computer using AnyDesk. You can either access a computer by using AnyDesk ID (number), access by typing IP address or hostname, or using the unattended access which requires you setup a password for the computer that you want to access using a password. The unattended feature is useful if you often need to access a PC without user’s interaction. AnyDesk also supports transferring files between computers. While using the software, you need to copy and paste file(s) between different computers. There are plenty of options to tweak the default standard permissions. With default settings, it allows the user who is remotely controlling your PC to view your computer’s monitor content, hear the sound output, and control your computer’s keyboard and mouse. You can navigate to Settings to change these default permissions and other security settings. Presently, AnyDesk is only available for Windows operating system. However, the team behind AnyDesk is working on Android, MacOS X, Linux, and iPad apps.
